I hate business cards.
I like the whole getting someone's piece of contact information from them, but the real paper card is the worst. Inevitably I always managed to lose the most important business card that I gave a few seconds after I received it. If I manage to go home with them, they will then get lost in the rubbish fire that my table will never be seen again.
Forever ago LinkedIn had an application called CardMunch that would copy cards and let you request connections with that person on the service. I love it. Then they turned it off.
Since then, my strategy has been to just take a pic card with my cellphone as soon as I get it, so there is a backup if I lose it. This week I found an application that is very similar to last year's LinkedIn offer: ClusterCards 2.
The business card scanner lets you take a card pic and then the information is transcribed and stored in a kind of virtual Rolodex on your cellphone.
