Got an email from Instagram? Don't automatically assume it's legal.
On Monday, Instagram launched a new feature designed to stop phishing attacks from hackers posing as social media services. "Bad actors are better at imitating e-mails from Instagram, and it's increasingly difficult for people to distinguish between real and fake e-mails," said the Facebook service.

At first glance, emails from hackers look legitimate because they use the Instagram logo. They offer verified badges, claim your account has been hacked and need to be secured, or accuse you of infringing copyright. But the scammer only wants you to click on the link and type your login information into a hacked webpage.
New features can be found via Settings> Security> Email From Instagram. The "Security" tab will display a list of emails sent by Instagram to you in the last 14 days regarding the security of your account and the location you entered. The second tab, nicknamed "other," will show you the remaining e-mails Instagram sent to you during the same period.
"We prevent people from clicking on links in emails claiming to be from Instagram if they cannot confirm we sent them. If someone accidentally clicks on a suspicious link, they can ask to secure their account here," the social media platform added. .

To better protect your account, we recommend enabling two-factor authentication. This means that anyone who enters needs to provide a special one-time password and passcode created on your phone to access your account. Activate via Settings> Security> Two-Factor Authentication. Make sure you don't hand out special one-time passcodes to hackers who try to trap your account.
If privacy is a major concern on Instagram, meanwhile, you will be pleased to know that this application removes the following Activity tab. It provides a list of likes and comments left by the people you follow. But as BuzzFeed notes, this can prove to be embarrassing if you like or comment on accounts that you don't really want people to know about. It's also not used much, so Instagram deal with it.
"We always try to stay focused and keep Instagram simple," said Instagram head Adam Mosseri tweet explaining tab deletion.
